A quick post of an unexpectedly great London day…
We strolled around lesser-known but lovely parts of Islington, spotting some beautiful squares.
A very friendly neighbourhood cat:
And walked past the Royal Courts of Justice (remind us to go in at the next Open House London; we’re desperate to see what’s inside!)
And arrived at Somerset House to visit the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition – because, you know, we like photography [did we mention that before?]. We thought the exhibition was variable compared to, say, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum, but there were some affecting and brilliant images. Particular highlights were the current affairs sections, covering some of the tragedies happening around the world today in a sensitive and eye-opening way.
As well as being the last day of that exhibition, it was also the anniversary of VE Day. So we headed over to Finchley, where they were holding a fair to mark the occasion. The sun was out and everyone was getting into the retro spirit, with the fabulous Three Belles getting everyone going!
We had ice creams (we do this a lot), listened to the music and watched the many dogs – always a favourite pastime!
He had a great day, and so did we! Hope you all had a fab weekend.
